How social media helped elect Obama and defeat Romney

From How powerful can social media activism be? One such effort (Dogs Against Romney) attracted over 110,000 members on Facebook and Twitter. These members, in turn, were connected to over 25 Million friends and followers. Through sharing by the group's members, the activist's message reached at least 900,000 people per week in the final two months of the election. There were even larger groups created by other social media activists that reached far more.
